"In this series symbolism is combined with camp style in order to challenge social norms and conventions. By combining elements of both I attempt to create a distinctive aesthetic that challenges traditional hierarchies and blurring the line between dichotomous distinctions, such as ‘good’ and ‘bad’ or ‘low’ and ‘high’.
Specifically artificial flowers are used, due to its powerful symbolic meaning which have been used for centuries to add depth and meaning. The interpretation can vary from person to person, and can be influenced by cultural, historical, and personal experiences. I invite people to embrace unconventional forms of perception in my work."

"While studying, decomposing and reforming objects from daily life, I create sculptures by merging different elements that are inspired by mass production and medieval craftsmanship. I construct sculptural objects by applying a wide range of techniques, from designing elements to manufacturing them using digital techniques such as laser cutting, CNC milling and 3D printing."
Tom Putman (1994) studied Fine Art at AKI ArtEZ Enschede and currently lives and works in Utrecht.
